Reports are circulating that the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has paid a visit to Britney Spears because of her recent hard partying. I'm told that is simply not the case.
Reliable sources in the world of Britney tell me DCFS never questioned the panty-challenged singer about her late-night clubbing. I'm getting a sense that the agency may have questioned Spears in the recent past as a follow-up to the seat belt incident earlier this year. Of course, Brit aficionados remember that DCFS went to her Malibu home after learning that Sean Preston was a passenger in the car she was driving and he was not strapped in. No action was taken in that case.
When I was a reporter at the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles, I did a year's worth of stories about DCFS and how foster children were dying because of abuse that was never detected by the agency. DCFS is an understaffed county department that can't investigate all the truly serious allegations of child abuse. Even though Britney may be trading lullabies for Hyde, it's a safe bet she's got help at home. If DCFS investigated Britney's partying and at-risk kids were ignored, department officials would be skewered. Period.

Pop star Britney Spears celebrated her 25th birthday Saturday with Paris Hilton and Black Eyed Peas star Fergie at Los Angeles hot spots.
Teen Hollywood reported that Spears, Hilton and Fergie were seen Saturday night at Hyde nightclub in Hollywood.
Earlier in the day, Spears reportedly took her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston, to the L.A. Zoo before going to the trendy restaurant Mr. Chow, where Spears met up with friends and family.

The odd item - one of 170 lots of Spears memorabilia - didn't even make it's pre-sale estimate ($500/#256) when it went under the hammer at Christie's in New York.
Spears completed the report when she was a teenager in junior high school.
Auctioneer Helen Hall had higher expectation for Britney's book report: "We sold another piece of Britney Spears' homework a couple of years back and that made over $1,000."
All proceeds from the sale of will benefit the pop star's Britney Spears Foundation.

A New York based cosmetic surgeon is determined to "returning Britney Spears to her original form".
Plastic surgeon Brad Jacobs, who has shaped over 200 Playboy bunnies, has decided to offer his expertise to the former Mousketeer, as he insists the Toxic singer had one of the best bodies in the business before she withdrew from the limelight by marrying Kevin Federline and then bearing his two sons.
Jacobs is convinced he will help Britney bring her body back and regain her famous stomach and abs.
"Prior to getting married, having children, and withdrawing from the musical limelight, Ms. Spears had one of the best bodies in the business -- often appearing onstage in midriff-bearing outfits that showcased her six-pack," TMZ.com quoted him, as saying.

Charmaine Yoest, communications vice president for the conservative Family Research Council think tank and the mother of five children, said that if her kids asked for Spears' fragrances, Curious and Fantasy, or a Britney album or DVD, she'd tell them, "You've got to be kidding!"
"We're not going to buy products from people who have such a flagrant disregard for moral values and who show no concern for their role as models for young people," Yoest said. "It's absolutely going to hurt her sales. She's really gone too far over the boundaries of good taste."
Yoest said her 13-year-old daughter "is not interested in Britney anymore, or Lindsay Lohan either."
Lohan has also been photographed in the past wearing nothing underneath.
"My daughter just looks at Britney and Lindsay and goes 'Ick,'" said Yoest. "I think these pop stars underestimate how smart young girls are."

Britney Spears' recent spate of all-night partying has raised the concern of the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services.
The 25-year-old singer - mother to 15-month-old Sean Preston and three-month-old Jayden James - has been partying hard with new pal Paris Hilton since she filed for divorce from Kevin Federline.
On several occasions Britney has checked into hotels rather than go home to her children.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "The department has been calling Britney trying to set up a meeting with her, so they can check on the kids. The calls started after this recent bout of bizarre public behaviour."
Britney's own family are also said to be concerned about her recent antics.
Her mother Lynne was said to be horrified when her daughter was pictured on four occasions not wearing any underwear.

The source said: "Lynne is very disturbed and has been trying to get a hold of Britney, but she can't. Lynne, Britney's brother Brian and her dad, Jamie, are very upset and are trying to stage an intervention with her manager Larry Rudolph's help."
The 'Toxic' singer has checked into Los Angeles hotels, including the Viceroy, with Paris Hilton on three occasions now, while her sons are at home being cared for by Lynne.
The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services visited Britney in April this year after Sean Preston fell from his highchair and hit his head while being looked after by a nanny. It is possible they could carry out a routine follow-up appointment.
